Promoting the understanding and use of informatics to accelerate clinical discovery and advance clinical practice
Director: Ida Sim, MD, Ph.D

About the Center

Informatics — the use of computation to understand and manage complexity — is increasingly central to clinical science and practice. While much can be done with today's technology, the greatest opportunities lie in knowledge-based technologies that are yet to be discovered.

CCTI members come from across UCSF schools, programs, departments, and campuses. In addition, we work in research and training partnerships with organizations throughout the Bay Area. CCTI activities are focused on:

  • Accelerating clinical discovery - vocabularies, ontologies, algorithms, knowledge base and other technologies for discovering clinical knowledge and for designing and analyzing clinical research
  • Advancing clinical care - clinical information systems, decision support systems, and health information exchange for improving safety and quality of care for inpatient, outpatient, and community-based care

We offer PhD training and are closely allied with the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
