Financial Aid
In their first year, Ph.D. students receive a stipend and the Program pays all fees. In subsequent years, financial support is the responsibility of the student's Primary Investigator. The University charges non-California residents tuition, which is currently $14,694 annually and is the responsibility of the student. California residents do not pay tuition. Non-Californians can generally become California residents after 1 year. Additionally, graduates of California high schools who attended a California high school for more than 3 years, and subsequently moved out of California, can apply for waiver of non-resident tuition.
